The difference between being for something, rather than against

In response to some of the questions we’ve been receiving regarding Clear Cut Love’s environmental position:

Clear Cut Love is a romantic comedy. Filled with quirky characters, its storyline is primarily about relationships and the mishaps that can occur when two very different people are forced to spend a lot of time together in very close quarters.

CCL’s underlying environmental message is about preserving an environment that is home to thousands of species, including over 200 that are considered ‘species of concern’. It’s about taking care of an ecosystem that enriches all of us, whether as a retreat from the hectic pace of the city, or as one in a system of rainforests on our planet that serve as lungs for the entire world.

This funny, magical, and heartfelt story is not against loggers and logging, but rather, is about reconciliation and overcoming differences between diverse cultures, for the good of all. A revolutionary idea whose time has come.

There have been many crises that human beings have faced in our relatively short history on Earth, but never has there been one of such magnitude as the current degredation of our global environment. If I can help in even a small way by pouring my soul into this project, I will end my life with the satisfaction of knowing that I did my best.

Your support of this very deserving project can be one of the ways in which you are helping to be “part of the solution.” A win for everyone and everything.

Many timber companies are recognizing the importance of sustainable logging practices and are now adopting this as their standard operating procedure. Not a radical notion, but common good sense — plain and simple, with a radically different outcome for our forests. Where once there were barren landscapes, now there are vast areas filled with diverse life-forms and a healthier forest, all-around.

Species of concern have a chance to survive and thrive in these tended forest gardens.

Clear Cut Love is in communication with one such lumber company that is interested in coordinating with us in support of the production.

IndieGoGo Campaign Off & Running Down The Trail

 

After weeks of prep, we are ‘live’ on IndieGoGo!

It was a frenetic week leading up to the launch with screenwriter Tanner Givnan working round the clock to complete the video. We hit a snag about five days out, with the scheduled video editor not being available to complete the project. Lucky for us, video wiz Dale Turnbull was available and pulled it together in record time. His skill and Tanner’s vision — and drive for perfection — were a good match. The presentation looks smashing!

Amazing how much work goes into a 6-minute video. When we last spoke, it sounded as if Tanner was in good form and relieved to have the project moving forward.

Now, all we need are a bazillion 10$ pledges, or a somewhat lower number for larger pledges, to reach our goal.

Clear Cut Love Trailer In Process …

 Clear Cut Love by Tanner Givnan is the story of a stunningly brilliant and stunningly gorgeous tree-sitter, a handsome (and conflicted) prep-school-polished journalist, loggers, environmentalists,  and the Tillamook people who live and work in Oregon’s Tillamook State Forest.  Filled with hilarious plot-twists, double entendres, and a grand scenic backdrop, Clear Cut Love has an environmental message that is both urgent and timeless.

Tanner and Team ClearCutLove are working to bring this story to life as a major independent film release.

Clear Cut Love will be produced in Oregon, using Oregon talent in both the preproduction and crew, as well as utilizing regional acting talent. In addition to using regional actors wherever possible, we’ve received nearly 4,000 submissions from actors across the country! Several names will be familiar to you when the time comes to make the casting announcement.

Clear Cut Love has a Facebook page, of course, and thanks to the great response we received from our “1 Like = 1 Tree Planted” campaign, garnered over 100 Likes within its first week. Record time!! We’re well on our way to 200 and should hit that soon.

We would ♥love♥ to have at least 200 Likes before launching our fundraising program with IndieGoGo. The trailer has already been filmed with gorgeous scenic backdrops shot in Oregon forests. It’s being edited this week with plans to go ‘live’ early next week.

Originally we were planning to use Kickstarter to raise seed-money for the film, but soon realized that IndieGoGo is more in alignment with our goals: it promotes independently-produced projects and is recognized internationally. Since we will be releasing in Europe as well as North America, it makes sense to capitalize on name recognition early in the game.

There’s a new development in Oregon that I want to share with with friends, old, new, and virtual …

It’s name is Clear Cut Love

Clear Cut Love, Tanner Givnan’s new screenplay, is a story about loggers, environmentalists, a handsome and conflicted city-slicker journalist, a stunningly brilliant and stunningly gorgeous tree-sitter, and the Tillamook people who live and work in Oregon’s Tillamook State Forest. It’s filled with hilarious plot-twists, double entendres, a grand scenic backdrop, and an environmental message that is both urgent and timeless.

Tanner and Team are working dilligently to bring this story to life with a film to be produced in Oregon, using primarily Oregon talent.

Clear Cut Love will be launching a Kickstarter campaign soon, but before that happens, they are working to develop at least 100 ‘Likes’ on their new Facebook page, opened June 9, 2011.

An added incentive to click the Like button … the first 100 will get a young Douglas Fir or Western Red Cedar planted in their names in the Tillamook State Forest.
